Abstract

Sun Microsystem's new programming language gets become the leading Internet authoring language. By the use of JAVA users can create, access and support dynamic interactive Web content. In this paper we will examine how JAVA works as a genaral purpose programming language. Can this highly platform independent language be used to create "serious" applications? What are the strengths and weeknesses?

Abstract

In the framework of Learn-Ed (Learning and Educational Access using Remote Networks - Enabling the Disabled) Desktop Videoconference system was developed using heterogeneous hardware platforms, existing software tools and network facilities for DOS/Windows and UNIX environment.

The aim of this experiment is to test the feasibility and usability of the recently available telecommunication technology for teaching activities for students with disabilities of Universities and Higher Education Studies, even when they are remote from the site of the teaching activity.

The experiments of videoconferencing included three phases as multicast in homogenous IBM PC environment using the CU-SeeMe free Videoconference software; point-to-point teleconferencing using the Mbone audio, video tools on UNIX based workstations; interoperability test in heterogeneous environment based on PCs running Cu-SeeMe program and SGI UNIX workstations interconnected via Reflector

Abstract

This paper is an overview about Internet resources for physicists and for people working and interested in physics, e.g. teachers and other scientists. The overview from electronic mailing to the World Wide Web presents different ways to reach information on the network. The choice depends on the possibilities of the user. The location of the most important documents in and outside Hungary is given with their URLs.

Abstract

Openness and transparency of the central and local governments are one of the basic requirements of a strong democracy. These requirements serve the interest of all citizens. According to the principles and tasks of the National Information Strategy the information access programs are basically important. Public access networks play grass-root role in the information infrastructure and encourage interactive communications between the members of the public and their government. The community members of the Academic Network in Hungary (HUNGARNET) have to make efforts in the development of the nation-wide information infrastructure, in the development of the public access networks.


EDI A FELADATOK ÉS MEGOLDÁSOK TÜKRÉBEN

Abstract

The paper presents a short overview of the application possibilities of EDI examining the possibilities of applying EDI in different size of companies. EDI is the final step in Electronic Commerce, which covers all the procedures and applications necessary for a company to make business. The course of an EDI project is also presented with some case studies from Hungarian automobile industry. We also cover some usual possibilities what can be offered by EDI systems and examples on EDI software with which these functions can be achieved.
