QTÉKA is the Hungarian version of Q series, a library automation software from EOS International, a US based, international company. The first QTÉKA has been installed in 2000. Since that time four additional libraries have migrated to QTÉKA.

Experiences of the first year show that QTÉKA is a very modern and reliable software.

It has all the features a library automation software must have, but it is much more than just a library software: it is a universal tool in the hands of a librarian to effectively handle, organise and access information of any kind and format.

In our lecture we are going to focus on those features of QTÉKA which are unique and distinguishes it from other library programs in Hungary.

• open, SQL based database structure

• Easymarc, MARC editing without thorough MARC expertise

• Full text retrieval with APRP (Adaptive Pattern Recognition Processing) technology

• Support for multimedia documents, like pictures, videos, audio, full texts, URLs etc.

• Z39.50 interface
