Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet

Gigabit Ethernet technology is widely deployed, it became an everyday technology by now. On the other hand 10 Gigabit Ethernet is fairly new, the standardisation process is not finished yet. Nevertheless, there are commercial 10 Gigabit Ethernet implementations available. The standards are expected to be published shortly.

This presentation describes new features in Gigabit Ethernet technology, those technical solutions that allowed an improvement of transmission speed of Fast Ethernet to the tenfold. Finally it briefly discusses some important technical features of 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
