Making the collection registering electronically is very important for the Magyar Környezetvédelmi és Vízügyi Museum for more than a ten years.

Our presentation will show the whole way from the beginning, from the one user software to the updated, modern system.

The program KATA is a multi-user database program, which is working on a SQL-based database. The database is MS-SQL 7.2 and ORCALE 7.3 (or higher). The network environment is WINDOWS NT and NOVELL. The systems on the workstations are WINDOWS 95 or higher.

The operating surface was developed in POWER BUILDER 6.5.

The program was made for the Duna Museum in Esztergom, but more museums signed us, that they prefer to use our software. (The Bányászati museum in Sopron, Sportmuseum.)

In this respect the Duna museum is our reference, but we had an important part in the specification phase.

At the development phase, all the questions about the specification were decided by the museologists.

So we were able to develop a program which is fit in with the expectations of the museologists.

Beside the presentation of the program we will tell our experience of the electronic processing of the museum collections. At the end of the presentation we will speak about our concept of the further development.
