Safe and controlled Internet connection in Education

Nowadays more and more information systems have access to the Internet.

There is the same tendency in educational institutions as well, since the Internet is indispensable keeping the education level on high standard as well as in everyday relationship.

However this change not only requires a lot of resources, but opens a much wider communication channel we have ever had. Unfortunately we must consider its dark side as well, since this quick growth also means vulnerability and incidentally wasted resources.

This presentation is about content security, because after the general access problems, this is the second most serious difficulty in schools.

On the one hand about viruses, crackers, vandals and vicious code that might cause irreversible damage in the network.

On the other hand about the plenty of financial and mental resources being wasted due to the access to Internet is uncontrolled and everything is reachable.

Regulation of the schools says that only the positive direction must be supported in case of the students’ development. Unfortunately, Internet leads the interest and learning to wrong direction in many cases.

Different solutions have been developed in order to filter and control this. In these systems, have to place importance on the huge numbers of workstations and users. Therefore, centralized solutions should be used. In addition to this, it is important that the access rights can be set uniquely and personally, i.e. everyone might have different rights.

These solutions fulfill the students’ Internet usage policy, indeed. The central alarm, management, the automatic update and the renewal technology are indispensable requirement today. The high availability is significant if we have a content security and complex network system. It is important to realise a load balancing, a stable utilisation, and we can forget to avoid the incidental overload.

Summarised, in our presentation we would like to present the above-mentioned area, the latest gateway content security products and the modern security and load balancing products.
