Developing information science competencies among the workforce of Hungarian Post Office

The largest company in Hungary ? the Hungarian Post Office ? employs about 36 thousand people, among these the job of 17 thousand persons is conducted with the aid of a computer.

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL ? user certificate) is available in Hungary for the last ten years. For this anniversary we are making it available to 2500 employees, so they can attain this ECDL certificate. It is a company priority for the employees to attain the right level competence in using computer programs helping postal technologies. It is very important during the current modernisation of Hungarian Post Office, that the workers are suitable trained in using a computer, so they can be highly effective in their work.

This is why we treat it a top priority to develop information science culture at the workplace, to enable emloyees to be tought digital literacy, and to develop cognitive and special competencies with the aim that these abilities and knowledge will serve the individual ?s and the Post Office?s real needs.
