Exchange of full-text documents between repositories - implementation of the SWORD protocol

Following the Budapest Open Access Initiative and the Berlin Declaration, repositories were created using the standard protocol of the
Open Archives Initiative (OAI-PMH) and software packages developed by different organisations. Repositories could be institutional or discipline-based or even organised by grant agencies. Depositing mandates are being implemented by various organisations. Researchers
or research groups might need to deposit the scientific papers they produce in multiple repositories. Automated systems, using the SWORD
protocol might ease the burden of the scientist - one repository might automatically forward the full-text material to another.
We report a pilot project by the Library of the Academy of Sciences and the Debrecen University Library, implementing the SWORD
protocol for an automated article exchange system.
