It is time to upgrade the Hungarian National Shared Catalogue (MOKKA). The concept of the system still stands the proof but the technical solutions are outdated. To fulfil its double function ? to support cataloguing in libraries and providing provenance information of documents to library users - MOKKA needs to be developed significantly.

To achieve the objectives of the ?Portal Programme? for providing libraries and library users with advanced services, new technologies and solutions need to be applied. The changes in the library system and the technological innovations cannot be served with obsolete methods. The significantly upgraded version of national service system has to be operated on trustworthy basis such as reliable library database which enables to provide acceptable high-quality services.

The planned development will be operated by the National Széchényi Library and it is going to be founded by the EU through the Social Revival Operational Programme. The university libraries of Szeged and Debrecen are going to participate in the complete implementation.
