The main aim of the new project is to facilitate the commercial and
non-profit exploitation of the EDGeS EU FP7 Desktop Grid project
(coordinated by MTA SZTAKI) and the HAGRID project (coordinated by
ECONET) focusing on the Desktop Grid and WEB2 technologies. On one hand
the WEB2 technologies assist to assure the resources in the desktop
grid community on voluntary or settlement bases. On the other hand, the
developed platform which is extended with many Hungarian desktop grid
systems (BUTE, Econet, SZTAKI) offers back-end infrastructure for the
operational requirements of WEB2 portals (large number of
users/connections/file processing/large file conversion), for security
requirements (watermark, periodic revision of digital signature, etc.),
for systems requiring large IT capacity, and for tasks defined by
community member end-users. The combination of the WEB2 and Desktop
Grid technologies provides advantages for both sides. In such
combination WEB2 can extend its capabilities from the community
contents towards to shared services with the help of grid technologies.
Main aims of the project are the examination of the above mentioned
targets and development of the tools, interfaces, methodologies to
establish the above mentioned targeted services both in closed
(local desktop grid), and in open (global desktop grid) environments.
The project heavily focusing on security and accounting based on
E-Groups solutions to facilitate the usage of service and commercial
Grid systems. To demonstrate the developed system solution, the project
consortia creates WEB2 based demo applications from different fields,
and provides easy-to-use interfaces and recommendations to facilitate
the potential usage of the technologies.
