High capacity storage systems

During the presentation we'll meet a cheaper alternative of today's traditional Fibre Channel based storage systems. The ATA over Ethernet protocol utilizes the same Ethernet fabric for moving data as the one that forms the basis for communication in most existing IT systems, hence its deployment cost is lower compared to Fibre Channel's, since it requires no special devices. However, its operating system-side supportability can be called anything but wide.

A system consisting of standard components will be presented that we successfully use in the NIIF Institute to circumvent this limitation, providing extra services such as logical volume management and redundancy. Such a system is almost equivalent to enterprise-class storage systems in terms of functionality, with the additional benefit of significantly reduced cost of installation and maintenance.
