In Hungary more and more public education professionals have incorporated such freely available web-based devices as instructor blogs, portals or other supportive websites in the educational process. Furthermore, the use of web 2.0 devices for instruction purposes is enjoying increasing popularity. Moreover, the motivational impact of the inclusion of social media and the latest applications facilitating on-line communication, content sharing, and interpersonal relations into the teaching and learning process has been scientifically proven.

1. The institutional legitimacy of network-based learning at EKC

At first my presentation will survey factors substantiating the legitimacy of the use of network-based learning and network-provided tools in public education and especially at the Eszterházy Károly College.

2. Content management systems supporting instruction

Having surveyed the abundance of freely accessible learning support applications I would like to provide a detailed report on the advantages and application areas of content management systems.

Several tools facilitating the establishment of instructional web sites and social networks supporting learning are available at the Internet. Content Management Systems promoting easy application and relatively problem-free learning are such tools. In Hungary the Drupal and Joomla systems pose additional competition for other content management schemes. By the help of these open source code systems individual instructor portals, internal professional or social sites both for students and teachers, along with educational materials and the respective auxiliary materials can be prepared.

3. Specified instructor portal criteria

In my presentation I would like to introduce my previous instructional website along with presenting its disadvantages, and the respective maintenance difficulties while highlighting its suitability for learning support goals. Moreover, I will reveal the plans for a new scheme scheduled to be prepared with the Drupal content management system.
