The Library of the University of Miskolc is building MIDRA (Miskolci Egyetem Digitális Raktár és Adattár), the Digital Repository and Datastore of the University of Miskolc since 2006. It helps us in our aim to provide open access to research- and publication-type intellectual property of the institution and also other, not specifically research related intellectual products of the university. Our 2010 TIOP (Társadalmi Infrastruktúra Operatív Program - Social Infrastructure Operational Programme) project titled “Coordinated infrastructure development of electronic services in libraries with different functions in Miskolc and Borsod county for the support of all forms and levels of lifelong learning and the creation of a country-wide article archive ” („Elektronikus szolgáltatások összehangolt infrastruktúra fejlesztése Miskolc és Borsod különböző funkciójú könyvtáraiban az életen át tartó tanulás minden formájának és szintjének támogatására & országos cikkarchívum létrehozása”) allowed us to update the software running below the database and set up a complex system including 9 collections and providing individual access gates to several collections. The database contains all dissertations handed in at the University of Miskolc since 2000 and we continuously aim to create such a regulatory background at the university that all other document types have to be compulsorily stored in the repository as well. Besides technical problems (e.g. determining the uploading method and accepted file formats) we have to also find a solution for establishing differentiated access that takes into account copyright laws.
