The Relex (Relations and Lexical units) is a freely usable client-server application for multi-user system, designed for cooperative use by teams for name space, thesaurus, taxonomy and classification systems (for example UDC) developers in mono- and multilingual way, accessed and manipulated over the Internet.
Usable for the following fields of activity: name space record management, semantical web, librarianship, archivism and museums.
The main features of the software are inter alia:
Creation and edition of many name spaces, thesauri, taxonomies and classification systems concurrently.
Systems use password-protected accounts, so users may have access to all of own data base from anywhere in the using standard personal computers and web-browsers.
According to ISO2788 and ISO 5964 , Z 39.19.
Support of an unlimited number of name spaces, thesauri etc. (both monolingual and multilingual).
Support of an unlimited number of terms per name spaces, thesauri etc. and an unlimited number of hierarchies.
Support of an unlimited number of thesauri parts (allocation of the vocabulary of a thesaurus into several special parts)
Support of the various types of authority files.
Possibility of  creating  a „micro-thesaurus” by choosing one or more terms and expanding the hierarchies linked to those terms only.
Change management.
Features for documenting („keeping track”) the history of the thesaurus evolution.
Detailed statistics.
Management of lexical units
Persons’ names, corporate bodies, family names, geographical names, topical term (headings), common names.
Descriptor and non-descriptor management as scope notes, classification codes, state and related of lexical units.
Formats.
Support of MARC21 authority and classification format and SKOS communication format  (free field, subfield an indicators definition possibilities by the user).
Support of the structures, compatible with International Standard Archival Authority Record for Corporate Bodies, Persons and Families (field, subfield and relationship definition possibilities by the user)
Support of UDC-format.

Powerful validation facilities covering proper structuring of a thesaurus.
Defining and customization of unlimited number of conceptual/semantical relationship types, created by the user.
Poly-hierarchies. Synonymous, equivalency and associative (partitive, causal, oppositional and so on) relationships.
Support for ANSI/NISO relationships plus user defined relationships.
Automatic validation of conflicting relationships.
Automatic reciprocal relationships creation.
Management of data of meta data (characteristics of lexical units, tertiary data), for example
different identifiers of other systems,
geographical coordinates,
conceptual categories,
time data of things,
personal data,
management of codes (top classification).
Management of notes.
Support an unlimited length of descriptive note fields.
Note permit tracking of various details such as rationale for term selection, instructions for use, historical information, source information etc. Scope notes.
Suggestions management.
Approval and candidate terms may be added but remain distinct until approved.
Multiple status for every term: preliminary, memorandum, provisional/candidate, fully established/accepted, invalid, shortened, fully ect. (according to MARC21).
Integrated machine translation of the complete semantical structure (translated thesauri – automatic).
Export–import management.
Export and import files for MS Word, according to ISO 2888, ISO 5964, MARC21, SKOS.
Multiple and synchronized view: hierarchical, alphabetic.
