Augmenting NIIFI storage infrastructure up to 2.5Pbyte

The NIIF Institute installed its first self-supporting data storage infrasructure a year and a half ago. The iSCSI-based, 0,5 Pbyte machine became very popular among the institutional users, and 70% of it was run out quite soon. The extension of this infrastructure became necessary and justified, which we carried out in the last quarter of 2011 and the first quarter of 2012. Due to this extension, besides the disk-based units already set in Dunaujvaros and Sopron, we installed a brand new disk-based system in Debrecen, and also a machine in Sopron which is capable of 1Pbyte un-packed and 1,5 Pbyte compacted data entries. In our presentation we will give you a referral about the technical backgound of the project, the possible means of the requisition of the service, and the storage policy regulating the service.
