United catalogues help everyday works of readers and librarians as well.

Libraries on different fields create their own services based on the same consideration.

The united catalogue of theological libraries, called „UNITAS”, started in 2011, founded by EKE.

The project was started with the support of Cultural Ministry of Hungary.

Maintenance is provided by EKE and member libraries as well. The catalogue contains records from 28 religious libraries and an article database, called „Humanus”. The number of records are more than a million. By the end of March four other libraries intend to join. Local databases are mostly phisically mirrored to UNITAS, but there are some of them, which only able to communicate with Z39.50. There are some collections among libraries, without own on-line catalogue system. UNITAS provide them search possibility in their own catalogue. The UNITAS catalogue contains administering interface and a Z39.50 gateway as well, so member libraries can use UNITAS as a record import source to update their own records. Besides books, there are more than hundreds of thousands of articles, studies in UNITAS, which make this catalogue very suitable to serve research in every field of literature. The recently launched electrical library service, in which materials are indexed by their full textual contents, serves the same purpose. In the „Knowledge base” section we intend to provide useful information from various aspects of theology, religious life and institutes. There is a section to introduce every member library and provide news and articles from religious collections and churches as well.
