Cloud computing is a technology model for IT services. It allows libraries to avoid locally hosting servers and network equipments, installing and upgrading integrated library systems. Cloud computing can simplify processes, save time and money for the libraries.

The Zsigmond Móricz County and City Library Nyíregyháza wishes to introduce cloud computing applications as software infrastructure bases for it’s municipal library services.The library’s main purpose is to provide a unified integrated library system for the county municipal libraries and for the library bus. This presentation aims to demonstrate the possibility of applying the technology in Hungarian library environment.

First it discusses the legal and economical environmental changes, then it presents the local conditions of the library services. Secondly the presentation tries to outline the financial opportunities, expected costs and maintenance charges. Thirdly it presents the required technological solutions and their expected results. Finally it suggests further development ideas for cloud-based library services.
