The task of collecting citations between research papers and providing up to date information by uploading data into the Database of Hungarian Scholarly Works (Magyar Tudományos Művek Tára, abbreviated as MTMT) impose a heavy burden on researchers, teaching faculty and occasionally on librarians as well. Tracking citations to ones publications is not a simple task regarding branches of humanities and social sciences as these fields are less covered (even if somewhat) by international or multidisciplinary abstracting&indexing services, nor is it easy to get acquainted with and navigate through the range of diverse information resources, content services and databases. One of the most frequently asked questions is, “How could my citations be collected?” The presentation outlines strategies that can be proposed in searching, it deals with types of references that meet academic requirements and which should be collected and filled in. Main sources and features of discovery devices are going to be overviewed and discussed. The presentation also draws attention to some problems that need to reach consensus.
