Installation of state-of-the-art NGN technologies at the University of Debrecen

It becomes obvious that in the practice any communication service can be realized based on IP technology. In the local area network environment beside of the data huge capacity of voice and video traffic appeared, as well. Because of the higher sensitivity of real time communication services, these applications need accentuated considerations to the network resource management during the service provisioning and network scaling. Rapid and robust network access is needed through different communication platforms with both wired and wireless technologies for the site buildings.
Significant development steps were executed at the informatics infrastructure of the University of Debrecen in the second half of the last year. There were realized multimedia studio (IPTV, streaming, IP radio), IP PBX with 2.5 thousand telephone extensions, interior WiFi system with 130 base stations and virtual private network (VPN) services based on European Union finance sources.
In the presentation we demonstrate state of the art integrated network services realized by two finished international projects at our university. We enter in detail regarding problems and solutions of the migration from digital to IP of PBX center. We present enhances of management structure of the controller based interior WiFi (IEEE 802.11n) system and details of the real time applications of the IP multimedia studio.
