Griffith College introduced Moodle as its e-Learning solution in 2005. The system lived trough several updates since the initial 1.5 depoloyment, and still still used by thousands of students every day. The current version, 2.2, offers more than 8000 courses in over 1000 categories for students and guests. The platform is used by every faculty, the biggest user being the law and accounting faculties and the library.

To keep student and lecturer data up-to-date, the system interfaces with the Scholar administration system and the MyGCD webapplication, the latter providing the administrative interfaces for students. Multiple internally developed web-based and commandline tools assist helpdesk and administrative tasks.

The official Moodle distribution was extended with several additional modules, developen by third-parties or internally.

These modules include:

SMS block for administrators, to help communication with students;

Custom video block with copy protection feature;

Live broadcast option for distance learning students;

BigBlueButton server integration for virtual classrooms;

Turnitin integration for plagiarism detection.
