Well designed and appropriately structured instructor portals providing relevant and useful information content are indispensable for students of the digital age. A sophisticated instructor website facilitating access to sound and proper information, educational and support materials offers reliable and safe support for the learning process. A professional site or link collection of a well-known instructor is a much more trustworthy source than any hit list or link assortment provided by any search engine.

During the construction of an effective and well-functioning instruction portal not only the needs of the given instructor, but the expectations of students should be taken into consideration as well. At the same time surveys or assessments concerning the educational role, general view, and efficacy of the use of instructor web pages can provide crucial information too. While last year such an appraisal of instructor expectations was completed, my current presentation focuses on student needs along with the comparison of the respective two research results. Research data acquired via on-line questionnaire completed by the students of Eszterházy Károly College concentrated on the content, potential application, effectiveness, and efficacy of currently available web-pages.

The research is expected to identify students’  and teachers’ general expectations regarding the content, appearance, and structure of instructor portals  in addition to pinpointing services providing optimal support for the learning process. The survey is also necessary for providing instructors with valuable guidelines regarding the appropriate structuring of respective contents in a usable framework system combining a variety of innovative web technology approaches thus enabling students to process and retrieve information easily.
