The International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) is a worldwide, cooperative non-profit organization of librarians, libraries, and other persons and institutions concerned with the acquisition, dissemination and use of legal information from sources other than their own jurisdictions. Founded in 1959, the IALL has over 400 members in more than 50 countries on five continents. The members represent all types and sizes of legal collections ranging from academic law libraries to corporate libraries, and from national and parliamentary libraries to administrative agency and court libraries. In keeping with its Mission, IALL promotes the law library profession and access to legal information. IALL provides an international forum for networking and information sharing among legal information professionals worldwide and supports professional development by awarding scholarships for annual course attendance and grants for internships.”[1]

Each year IALL offers three bursaries for information professionals who are in current employment in librarianship with significant legal context to their work. On the basis of my so far gained knowledge and experience; my professional activity in the field of legal librarianship and my application documentation I was chosen to be one of the three selected participants of the annual conference and to be among the three 2012 bursary winners for the Toronto conference - http://iall.org/scholarship.html.

With the help of participating at the annual conference of IALL, the professional programmes, library study tours and the social events I could deepen my legal knowledge concerning library and information science and I could get insight into the Canadian and American law librarianship. I do hope I could promote and strengthen the professional relationship between IALL and the Hungarian (legal) librarians and the Association of Hungarian Librarians in the field of serving legal information at present and in the future. Thanked to the international conference, I could meet and discuss a lot of interesting topics with librarians and information specialists from all over the world. It is very important for me to know and understand in a more proper way the legal systems and legal issues concerning the whole world. The course showed great diversity and richness in the conference themes and presentations which were worth listening to and using them in our everyday work in the future. The annual conference also made it possible to give information for the foreign colleagues about the results of the Hungarian (legal) librarianship with special reference to the court library system and the Association of Hungarian Librarians Section of Law Librarians.

Counting on the interest of the colleagues, I would like to inform the Hungarian librarians and information specialist about the results and experience of the IALL conference in Hungary with the help of Networkshop conference.

The planned themes of the presentation:

·         Participation at the IALL’s annual conference,

·         the detailed programme of the conference and its professional and personal experience,

·         law librarians in Canada and the USA,

·         summary and suggestions for the Hungarian librarianship.
