LIDO (Lightweight Information Describing Objects) provides a common, single XML schema for contributing content to cultural heritage repositories. It was designed and published by the ICOM-CIDOC for the Data Harvesting and Interchange Working Group in 2010. Hungarian cultural heritage institutions are using it particularly when they contribute metadata to Europeana. The main characteristics of the format are: the event oriented approach, ICOM-CIDOC CRM compatibility and the Semantic Web support.

The Petőfi Literary Museum working group is mapping the local, HUNMARC based metadata set to LIDO in the framework of Europeana Inside project. The mapping is the part of the development of Europeana Connection Kit (ECK), which will be built in the Monguz Ltd.'s Huntéka-M collection management system. The ECK aims to establish the connection between the institution and Europeana.
