Wider range of services on HBONE+ WDM network: CWDM, 100G

The basic feature of the today's (D)WDM networks is to transport 10Gb/s channels, it's also more and more default that this is done on a ROADM based network with meshed topology where any to any connections are possible. HBONE+ DWDM network is like this.
In this speech we are going to present what kind of features and capabilities can added to such a network thus extending the area of its applications.
For this reason we are targeting two opposite directions and analyzing them:
- low end: extensions towards the much simpler CWDM technology which makes it possible to reach such endpoints by WDM wouldn't be affordable by the more expensive DWDM. We will present how ALU 1830PSS makes it possible to do it on that way that the whole WDM system remains integrated.
- high end: transmission of optical channels beyond 10Gb/s (40G, 100G: 100G is more and more dominant nowadays), this topic is primerly interesting by the fact that from 40G on much more complex solutions (line coding, modulation) are needed than up to 10G. From 100G on balancing between the contrary measures of bit rate/reach/total capacity becomes a prime issue to consider.
