The foundation, fusion, and closure of cultural institutions appear as a constant challenge in this public service sector. These kind of institutional status modifications in the recent period have appeared in a really significant way. Some libraries with a central professional position in the Hungarian library system have merged into each other and altered their institutional framework. The institutional changes carry out human, methodological and technological implications as well. One of these challenges is the data migration to separate or integrate data directed to the previously used library integrated systems. In this process there are not any general standard procedures. Each case needs a unique solution depends on the type of content and data. A deep knowledge of the target databases is a basic requirement in order to manipulate or migrate them. On the other hand a close and constructive collaboration of the partner libraries is also really essential through this process. In our presentation we would like to illustrate the database separation tasks with new individual school databases that have made from the central database of László Németh City Library. The challenges of integrating large databases have illustrated through the fusion process of Péter Méliusz Juhász County Library and Debrecen City Library.
