Scientific publication nowadays undergoes a transformation. Publishing online and open access prepared the ground for simple new solutions on the Internet for discussion, reproduction and verification of scientific results. The NextGeneration project of SZTAKI works on a software platform to exploit new potentials in scientific publication. Within this project, the NextArticle component is an annotation platform specialized for scholarly discussion. NextArticle provides ways to enrich papers with raw data, discussion, animations, etc. displayed in the context of the referred text in the paper.This enables authors to attach raw data to tables and graphs in the paper, helping the reproduction and further analysis of scientific results. Readers may annotate the text with comments and questions, thus starting discussions within the context of the paper.
