Library facilities involving mobile devices and experiences at NSZL

The production of content browsing services on mobile devices has been in the scope of the National Széchényi Library for over a year. We were one of first to introduce a feature-rich mobile website, Online Public Catalogue, thematic websites and more targeted services.
Slowly the first conclusions can be drawn - how our users welcomed the new content – which can help other libraries to launch similar services.
Of course improvements haven’t stopped in other libraries either. The lecture reviews library developments optimized for smartphones and tablets nationwide in the recent period:
- Which libraries launched their own mobile friendly websites or created their catalogue which can be used on mobile devices comfortably.
- Where mobile applications were released.
- What different technologies were used by different libraries.
- The advantages and disadvantages of different technologies.
International initiatives are also tangentially presented which connect libraries and mobile devices with special functions.
