Recently several major update were done in NIID's access network. One of these was related to the tunneling infrastructure, more precisely the previous tunneling methods were replaced by L2TP tunneling.
The focus will be on the operational aspect, presenting the change process in NIID's network in order to enable L2TP tunneling. The presentation is structured in four major parts.
The first section presents the necessity for the L2TP tunneling solution. The need for such solution was concluded after deciding the IPv6 addressing scheme for our customers.
The second part contains the process of adapting DOCSIS and Multiflex access technologies to L2TP. What exactly has been done, and what the impact was on the users' traffic.
The third section of the presentation focuses on the troubles encountered during the migration, what the fix for this issues was, and how those can be avoided in the future.
In the end of the presentation I will invite audience to share their experience related to the presented changes, if they experienced any service failure during the changes.
